Although I haven’t tested this feature by submerging it, the light has endured several severe rainstorms without any damage.

However, it’s worth noting a couple of design issues: the bracket for the solar panel is quite short, limiting its ability to tilt and capture sunlight effectively. 

Also, the mount is made of thin metal, which may not withstand very harsh weather. 

To overcome these challenges, I reinforced the setup with an aluminum plate and sturdy U-bolts to ensure it remains secure.

I use two of these lights along my 60-foot walkway leading to the front porch, one every 30 feet to cover the whole path.

What to Consider When Choosing the Best Solar Flood Lights?

1. Light Brightness

The lumens rating tells you how bright a light is—the higher the lumens, the brighter the light. 

How bright you need it depends on where you’ll be using the solar flood light.

For example, if you want to light up a smaller area like a doorstep or a garden walkway, a light like the AloftSun Solar Security Light could be perfect.

Two things affect how much ground your solar lights cover: the beam angle and the number of LEDs.

Some sensors cover up to 160 degrees, while others are narrower.

For narrow spaces like alleys, a smaller field of view works fine. 

But for larger areas like backyards or parking lots, a sensor with a wider field of view is the better choice.

4. Charge Time

Charge time is all about how long it takes for a solar light to power up its batteries using sunlight.
